We are seeing the same problem in Australia! It is becoming ridiculous, bikes left in rivers, fallen on side walks. They need to have places to put the bikes, like the do in Paris. You pick your bike up at one of the many many bike stations and then return it to a different or the same bike station and it gets locked up.

Could these not just be donated to various countries in Africa or elsewhere where people have to travel huge distances with no available transport? Surely a major corporation could make this part of the Social Responsibility Program and make a REAL difference!

With all due respect, I don’t think a few people on here can speak for more than 1billion in Africa. Empowerment should be part of the donation. Corporations have deep pockets. It is almost sinful that hundreds of thousands of bicycles are just laying there. A combined and effort between shipping, air, road transport and courier corporate giants.
